Potomac River Watershed Cleanup-A great way to connect your students to the Potomac River Watershed and work on those elusive community service hours!

The cleanup is an annual event, coordinated by the Alice Ferguson Foundation that involves MD, VA, D.C., PA, and WV. Last year, 4000 volunteers came out to 110 cleanup sites for this three-hour event. During this time 70 tons of trash was removed from within the river's watershed. This year's cleanup will be held on Saturday, April 6th 2002, 9am-12noon. Please spread the word!

In addition to coming out to a cleanup site within your community, we are inviting you to sponsor a schoolyard trash cleanup up on your school's property. This could be completed within one or two class periods. A healthy river is a sign of a responsible and involved community. The same can be said of your schoolyard. Does your schoolyard reflect the respect and involvement of your students, faculty and community?

If you are interested in sponsoring a schoolyard cleanup at your school or want more information about cleanup sites available on April 6th, please contact Michelle Radez at 301-292-6665 or Email potomaccleanup@fergusonfoundation.org. Deadlines for schoolyard cleanup registration is March 1st
