Water the kids and watch them grow. Join us at Hard Bargain Farm for a day of learning, service, and reflection — not to mention, getting dirty and getting wet. H2Oh! is a year-long, once-a-month watershed based service learning day , developed especially for curious, homeschooled kids. Kids will walk away with a deeper understanding of the ways water flows into and out of our lives.
Kids from Pre-K to 6th grade are welcome. Morning learning will be age-specific. Afternoon service projects will be multi-age and multi-fun. Hands-on, minds-on activities include habitat hikes, creek exploration, organic gardening, composting, trash and invasive plant clean-up, canoeing, even cow milking. The day wraps up with creative journal reflection.
H2Oh! will meet 10am - 2pm on the second Monday of each month, from September to May. The first and last sessions will also include a not-to-miss overnight option.

What is Service-Learning?
Service-Learning is typically a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. The homeschool Service-Learning program at Hard Bargain Farm will pair morning high quality science instruction with a related afternoon service activity.
Group Size
Morning learning groups will be intimate in size ranging from 6 – 10 students per group. The morning learning groups will also be age –specific, containing children no more than one grade level apart. Morning learning groups require at least 6 children to form a group so gather a group of your child’s friend.
Siblings
Siblings are required to register separately and participate in the adventure offered for their age groups. If siblings are outside the eligible age range or no workshops are available for the sibling's age due insufficient numbers, HBF request parents care for the siblings and not participate in the workshop or make arrangements for alternate child care outside of HBF. Siblings outside the appropriate age range will not be allowed to attend or participate in workshop activities except for nursing infants. Please note that once at the farm, siblings and/or friends may not be grouped together for program activities.
Parent Participation
Parent Participation is encouraged for children ages 4 to 6 and welcomed but not required for older children. All children must have their own parent or designated parent in attendance for the overnight adventure.
All adventures are transferable but non-refundable. The Alice Ferguson Foundation reserves the right to cancel or change programming due to unforeseen weather conditions.
