Wrapping Up Summer Adventure Camp 2023

Written by Michelle Hickerson
Community, Environmental, and Farm Education Program Manager

We “camp” believe that our Summer Adventure Camp is already over!

Over 4 weeks of summer, campers embarked on unforgettable adventures, exploring everything from the plants and trees in the forest, macroinvertebrates of the water, farm animals at Hard Bargain Farm, outdoor games, and lots of water play. These explorations utilized their inner wonder and creativity, science processes, teambuilding and tons of laughter.

Some favorite activities from our campers included:

Milking our dairy cow Opal in the milking parlor,

Creating art with natural materials from the garden and forest,

Learning to pin bugs with a guest speaker Entomologist,

Doing handstands in the pool and playing water games in the field,

and celebrating the end of the camp week with an ice cream sundae party!

Our Summer Adventure Camp team enjoyed watching the 67 campers grow in confidence as they developed a deep appreciation for nature. The campers discovered the importance of taking care of the environment and each other through fun and adventure.

Be on the lookout for camp registration in January 2024. We can’t wait until next summer to have “s’more” fun!
