Executive Director
Theresa Cullen is a native of Prince George’s County. She has been in the field of education for over 25 years. Enjoying the outdoors and animals is a priority for Theresa and her family.

Heather Whitpan
Development Director
Heather comes to the Foundation after spending the last 10 years working on behalf of the solar industry. In her spare time, Heather enjoys spending time with her family, playing board games and exploring the local wine country.

Sarah Kempfer
Programs Manager
Sarah comes to the Foundation with years of environmental education experience and a passion for getting kids into nature. She also loves to spend time with her own family outdoors in the woods or on the water.

Bill Townsend
Farm and Facilities Manager
Bill grew up in Accokeek, working on Hard Bargain Farm and exploring the Potomac River. When not teaching children about nature and agriculture in Southern Maryland, he spends his time kayaking, climbing, hiking, and traveling.

Tori Bitner
Communications Coordinator
Tori shares the Foundation’s mission, programs and stories with the community and news media. When she is not in the office, you can find her cheering on the Virginia Tech Hokies and crafting Pinterest-inspired DIY projects.

Jonathan Wright
Maintenance Associate
A life-long resident of southern Maryland, Jonathan graduated from the University of Maryland in 1982 with a B.A. in Archeology. When not working he actively pursues the ever elusive Micropterus Dolomieu.

Gabriela Zabel
Education Specialist
Gabi’s passion is sharing nature with other people. She loves animals and is active in animal rescue. In her free time, Gabi loves exploring the outdoors and spending time with her cats.

Pat Biles
Environmental Educator
Pat Biles is an outdoor woman with a degree in Chemistry. She enjoys being outdoors and helping children of all ages embrace nature and share the joy in learning something new. She tends a small flock of laying hens, gardens, paints, hikes, and likes to shoot a few arrows with her bow. When home she likes to cook for her family and help care for the aged family cat.

Lauren Blejski
Environmental Educator
Lauren grew up in Severna Park, Maryland. She joined the Foundation after graduating from Eckerd College with a degree in Geosciences and Environmental Studies. While not working she enjoys hiking with her family and friends.

Janine DeLauder
Environmental Educator
Janine DeLauder has lived and taught in Southern Maryland for 13 years. She and her husband run a small organic garden in Charles County and she has always loved sharing the knowledge that she has learned along the journey. Her love for teaching spills into every corner of her life!

Jeff Frederick
Facilities Associate & Volunteer Coordinator
Jeff tends to the grounds, buildings, and animals at the farm alongside the Facilities team. His love for animals and nature helped him find a place as a volunteer before transitioning to staff. Off the property Jeff lives a life filled with art, photography, and reptiles.

Kai Kim
Environmental Educator
Kai grew up in the Accokeek area and fostered a love of outdoor education during their time at Earlham College. They enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities, but their favorites are skiing and rock climbing.

Dana Puzey
Financial Coordinator
Dana has been living, working, and playing in Southern Maryland most of her life. She studied environmental science, urban planning, and sustainability. When not working, she enjoys being out in the woods or on the river.

Sharon Rabie
Farm Assistant
Sharon joined the Foundation staff in 1995, sharing her love of the outdoors and animals with all that visit. When she is not at the Farm she also works part time as a humane and environmental educator for the Humane Society of Charles County.

Cindi Rudzis
Farm Assistant
Cindi brings her love of the local ecosystem, livestock knowledge, and her appreciation of historic preservation to shepherd the structures and land at AFF. She enjoys creating art in traditional mediums and stained glass, mycology, and spending time with her husband, horses, dogs, sheep, and chickens.

Kristina Scrimshaw
Environmental Educator
Kristina enjoys sharing her love for nature and the outdoors with the local community. She graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a BS in Environmental Science. When she’s not leading a program, Kristina is both a yoga and Pilates instructor.

Ashleigh Stovall
Environmental Educator
Ashleigh is a born and raised local to the Accokeek area. She believes teaching children a love for the outdoors is essential for our future. She is currently working on her naturalist certification. In her free time she loves working in her garden or hunting for treasures in the woods with her family.
