C&O Canal Trust Trash Cleanup

April 11 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join the C&O Canal Trust for a trash cleanup at Weverton in the C&O Canal National Historical Park as part of the Alice Ferguson Foundation’s Potomac River Watershed Cleanup. Volunteers will help remove trash along the towpath and the Weverton beach area to protect wildlife, improve visitor experience, and preserve this busy stretch of the park. This is a great opportunity to give back, spend time outdoors, and make a visible impact in a well-loved section of the canal.

  • Notes: The C&O Canal access point at Weverton is not the same location as the Weverton Cliffs parking lot. The terrain includes uneven ground with rocks and exposed roots. This area also tends to have a larger amount of broken glass; adults bringing children should be especially mindful. Please reach out to us with any questions.
  • Directions: Parking for Weverton is at the eastern end of Keep Tryst Road (it has a little roundabout there). Park anywhere along the side of the road; we highly encourage carpooling. Walk through the CSX gate, cross the railroad tracks, and we will meet inside the park gates near the towpath. Please note this is not the Weverton Cliffs parking lot!
