Celebration on the Potomac
The Flagship Maryland 250 Gathering
An Evening Along the River That Shaped Maryland
History. Art. Stewardship. Community.
Celebration on the Potomac is the signature gathering of the Land as Home. Land as Muse. Land as Teacher.
Maryland 250 series — an immersive evening where history, creativity, and environmental stewardship converge.
This is not a ballroom gala.
The land is the venue.
The river is the backdrop.
The story is ongoing.
The Experience
Join us for a unique evening where guests will explore curated stations across the Foundation’s historic riverside campus, each offering a different window into the stories that have shaped this landscape.
Along the way, you will encounter the region’s agricultural and environmental history, the vibrant artistic legacy of the WPA era, reflections on the evolution of environmental education, and the ongoing work of stewardship along the Potomac River.
Throughout the evening, local culinary offerings and regional beverages enhance each stop along the journey. The Pavilion features locally inspired cuisine featuring local wines from Port of Leonardtown Winery, St Mary’s County and craft beer from Mully’s Brewery, Calvert County, while the Barn offers a curated tasting hosted by the Maryland Wine Association, showcasing wines from across Maryland. Then make your way up to the Farmhouse for dessert and the sunset.
