In participation of the Alice Ferguson Foundation Potomac River Cleanup, the City of Alexandria – RPCA Division will be hosting a cleanup at All Veterans Park on Saturday, April 9th from 9 AM-11 AM. Bags, gloves, trash grabbers, and first aid will be made available for the event. Please be sure to dress appropriately and bring plenty of water.
Data Collection: Trash Bags!
With the recent plastic bag tax, collecting data on plastic bag prevalence is as important as ever. Metrics generated from cleanups like this are critical to understanding the long-term efficacy of the bag tax. So, please collect data about the trash you are finding — your data will be used to help us understand trends and come up with solutions to marine debris and plastic pollution! You can collect data using paper Data Cards OR you can use the CleanSwell App on your smartphone.
If you plan on attending/have questions about the cleanup, trash data collection, or any other related matter please notify Gavin Pellitteri at gavin.pellitteri@alexandriava.gov or Mary Farrah at mary.farrah@alexandriava.gov.
Meet Up Point: N. Pickett Street and Holmes Run Parkway, Alexandria VA 22304.
